The tea was rubbish, but at least our non-league blogger and staunch Matlock Town supporter was happy with the result in Ashton-under-Lyne.

On a ploughed field, our non-league blogger watched his team scrap for a result against high-flying Retford, and encountered a dodgy ref, a thuggish centre back and a stern telling off from a steward whose uniformed status had clearly affected his rationality.

With a poor record at Ossett Town’s modest ground, and with a strong chance of having his mind frazzled by a myriad of phone masts, our non-league blogger John Peach was not too optimistic about his side’s prospects prior to kick-off. And a pint of watery ale didn’t help things either.

The harsh winter weather didn’t stop our non-league blogger from seeing his beloved Matlock up at Nantwich Town on New Year’s Day. Although getting lost around a small lake almost did.

Our non-league blogger braved the elements in wet and windy Cheshire where his beloved Matlock Town were in FA Trophy action against Witton Albion. Many weather-berating profanities were uttered to bring you this report.
