Our Quest has taken more twists and turns than the Thames. Ironic, then, that that’s where we’re heading on Sunday as our Thames-side team Fulham look to overcome League Two’s only FA Cup representatives Notts County.
Notts County’s 2-0 FA Cup victory at Wigan last night means they become the subject of our FA Cup Quest, as they will play our Quest team Fulham in Round 5.
We should have known it really by now. Having seen off Romulus FC, Bedford Town, Bury Town, Oxford City, Burton Albion and Gillingham our FA Cup ‘Quest’ has now claimed another victim in Accrington Stanley.
Fulham’s millionaires won’t fancy the trip to Accrington Stanley for today’s FA Cup 4th Round tie, and we’ll be hoping that the Big Boys come unstuck now that Stanley have become our FA Cup Quest team.
Our cursed FA Cup Quest continued last night when our team, Gillingham, were beaten in a re-arranged 4th Round tie against Accrington Stanley. It means we’ve now followed a different team in every round of the competition since we started the Quest back in the 2nd Qualifying Round in September.
On Tuesday evening Accrington Stanley became the destination of our FA Cup Quest by virtue of becoming the opponents of our Cup Quest team Gillingham in the 3rd Round, after they beat Barnet 1-0 in a 2nd Round Replay.
