It’s big, it’s red but it can be a vacuous waste when it’s half empty. And the burgers are, quite frankly, like eating papier mache. Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium comes under scrutiny from this is football’s rover Phil Viles.

Pirelli Stadium, Burton Albion

They’re one of the youngest teams in the football league having been formed in 1950, and in their new purpose-built Pirelli Stadium home, they have the youngest ground. Here’s our review of the affectionately-named ‘Rubberdome’.

Hillsborough is a famous stadium but it’s desperately in need of a makeover. The days of hosting semi-finals and prestigious international games are long gone for the ground unless huge investment can be pumped into it.

Our non-league focus takes us to Matlock, a historic little town nestled in the Derbyshire Dales, where its football team enjoys one of the most beautiful views in football, second only to Abbey Clancy.

Pride Park, Derby County

Opened in 1997, Pride Park Stadium is one of a clutch of stadia designed by the Miller Partnership who have also designed new stadiums for Sunderland, Southampton, Leicester and Coventry., the stadium replaced the historic Baseball Ground, which was demolished in 2003.

The City Ground, Nottingham Forest

An away day at Forest is not all about coming back with three points…there’s loads more fun to be had during a trip to Nottingham, including a beer and an ogle at Hooters…a place where two heavyweights up-front and a tight backline work well together.
